Section 3, Part B – Protecting young people and children from smoking directly impacts on the health of young people in Wales. Urgent action is needed to prevent a new generation of young people becoming addicted to this lethal habit and your support will be vital in bringing this about. Ash Wales urges you to respond particularly to the section relating to protecting young people.

The Youth and Tobacco Forum will allow those involved in youth specific research and policy development, enforcement, youth and community work, health education, smoking cessation and paediatric medicine to network and exchange information. Additionally, young people themselves will have a voice at this forum.
"Not only are tobacco farmers at risk from the pesticides used to grow their crop, they are also prone to ´green tobacco sickness´ which is caused as a result of absorbing nicotine through their skin by direct contact with wet tobacco leaves. Nausea, general weakness, dizziness, abdominal cramps, and fluctuations in blood pressure and heart rates are all common symptoms of ´green tobacco sickness´."
