Anifeiliaid anwes

Beth yw’r broblem?

Mae anifeiliaid anwes (gan gynnwys cathod, cwn ac adar) yn dioddef o fwg ail-law hefyd. Mae mwg tybaco’n cynyddu risg anifeiliaid anwes o gael canser, clefyd y galon, heintiau resbiradol fel broncitis cronig, llid yr ysgyfaint ac asthma, a chlefydau eraill. Mae anifeiliaid anwes hefyd yn amsugno cemegau peryglus pan maent yn llyfnu eu blew oherwydd bod y gwenwynau o fwg tybaco’n glanio arno.

Sut allwn ni amddiffyn ein hanifeiliaid anwes?

  • Gwnewch eich cartref yn ddi-fwg. Gofynnwch i’r smygwyr fynd y tu allan i’r ty pan maent eisiau sigarét. Nid yw agor ffenestr yn ddigon.
  • Gwnewch eich car yn ddi-fwg. Gadewch i smygwyr gael sigarét cyn i chi gychwyn, ac ar deithiau hirach cymerwch hoe am sigarét er mwyn atal y temtasiwn i danio un yn y car. Neu defnyddiwch patsys neu gwm nicotin.
  • Cadwch flychau llwch yn lân – peidiwch â gadael bonion ynddynt i anifeiliaid anwes ddod o hyd iddynt. Cadwch y blychau llwch allan o afael anifeiliaid anwes, y tu allan os oes modd.
  • Ystyriwch roi’r gorau i smygu – mae effeithiau smygu ar iechyd eich anifeiliaid anwes yn rheswm da arall dros roi’r gorau iddi.

Beth fydd cartref di-fwg yn ei olygu i’m hanifail anwes?

  • Bydd yr anifeiliaid anwes yn hapusach
  • Bydd ganddynt lai o broblemau iechyd
  • Byddant yn llai tebygol o ddioddef o ganser
  • Byddant yn arogleuo’n well

Tobacco Industry quotes:

"It has long been common knowledge that along with the pleasures of smoking come real risks of serious diseases and that smoking can be difficult to quit. Governments throughout the world have based their tobacco control policies on this knowledge. In our view, an informed adult decision to enjoy the pleasures of smoking while balancing those pleasures against the risks is no more criticism that many other lifestyle choices we all make."

BAT, December 2000, Smoking and Health messages.

Recent studies have shown that over 80% of smokers start smoking before they were 18. A child cannot make an informed adult decision.

Smoking & Health

The risk of early menopause is particularly high among women who smoke – one large US study found that women aged 40-44 years who smoked were twice (2.1) as likely to have gone through menopause as their non-smoking peers. The more cigarettes smoked, the greater the risk. For example, a study of Scottish women in their forties found that the risk of early menopause was almost trebled (2.7) for women who had smoked a pack of cigarettes a day for 20 years.
